The Newquay foodie scene has blossomed in recent years, becoming one of the top places in Cornwall to dine out. Newquay’s restaurants, cafés and pubs offer the very best of Cornish seafood, international dishes and incredible take-away lunches. We’ve used our local knowledge and experience to pull together the very best places to eat when you stay with us at Newquay View Resort, and trust us, it wasn’t easy to narrow down!
1. Lewinnick Lodge
Sitting atop the cliffs of the Pentire peninsula is Lewinnick Lodge. Overlooking the Atlantic, this romantic bar/restaurant serves British and world cuisine in a setting ideal for a romantic evening with your partner. Take in a breathtaking sunset with floor to ceiling windows while you enjoy your evening meal, or sit outside on the decking for an afternoon drink.
Kahuna is the top restaurant for international cuisine in Newquay for a takeaway or dine-in. Husband and wife Ryan and Kelly Mather have created the delicious pan Asian menu after years of globe-trotting, featuring a mouth-watering Malaysian beef curry and incredible Singapore chilli crab and tiger prawns.
3. Gusto Deli Bar
This is a real favourite with the locals. Gusto Deli Bar serves up delicious and nutritious lunches and snacks, including slow-cooked meats and incredible vegetarian treats. Try their hearty sandwiches, exotic burgers, international pizzas and rainbow salads that we’ve tried and tested many times. As the weather starts to get colder, grab their warm Sunday roasts in a box and enjoy on the beach! Find them in the centre of town along Beach Street as you head towards Towan beach.
4. The Mermaid Inn
On Porth beach, just around the corner from us at Newquay View Resort, is The Mermaid Inn. This place is all about the location, so sit outside and take in the stunning views of the beach for your pub lunch. The Mermaid Inn hosts regular entertainment and live music, so visit their website to see what bands are playing during your stay.
5. Lusty Glaze Beach Restaurant
Lusty Glaze beach is a very popular spot not only for sunbathing, but weddings, live music and incredible cuisine. The restaurant at Lusty Glaze is nestled in this secluded privately-owned cove, providing a unique location for a lazy afternoon coffee or cosy evening feast. Specialising in Hot Rock dining, cook your own meat, fish or vegetarian food at your table. We’ve tried it and not only is it exciting but very very yummy!

6. Prego Prego
Prego Prego is the perfect place to grab a quick wrap or baguette when strolling through the centre of town. They’re also known for their delicious breakfasts and make everything in front of your eyes. And don’t forget to enjoy your breakfast or lunch with one of their homemade sweet treats from the counter. Find them as you walk through town along East Street, on the left hand side in between the Pharmacy and Oggy Oggy.
7. Bush Pepper
Mixing Cornish and Australian ingredients to create a contemporary menu of unique dishes, Bush Pepper is definitely one of the best places to dine out in Newquay. It is an absolute must that you sample their exciting menu during your stay. Stay updated by visiting their Facebook page, with fun gin and seafood, and rum and food pairing nights, as well as seasonal and occasion menus.
9. Beached Lamb Café
Only open during the summer season, The Beached Lamb Café had to make it onto our list despite just closing for the year. They’re known for their delicious vegetarian and vegan-friendly menu and mouth-watering milkshakes. Relax and take a seat on their floor cushions at the back of the café for a truly laid-back and healthy lunch.
9. Harbour Fish and Grill
The Harbour Fish and Grill is a converted old grain store built into the cliff, overlooking Newquay’s heart and heritage: the harbour. With views spanning across the North coast, enjoy your fish while taking in the view of over 7 of Newquay’s most beautiful beaches. Award winning chef Aaran Janes has put together a menu of seasonal and fresh ingredients, from a mouth-watering crab linguini to fresh hake and summer greens, creamy wild mushroom fricasse to exquisite lobster risotto.
10. Two Clomes
Last but not least, the Two Clomes at Quintrell Downs is another local’s favourite serving up hearty Cornish food. Their menu offers a variety of traditional pub food, beautiful fish and incredible Sunday lunches. They are also dog friendly!
